A LEADER IN THE MAKING
Stell was born and raised in Milford, Delaware. Her primary years of education took place in the #196-C School, then she moved up to William C. Jason Comprehensive High-school. Stell attended the Delaware State College and Delaware of University getting her masters in Sociology.
After her education Stell Parker Selby taught grades k-12 in the Cape Henlopen School District and she also served as the principle at Booker T. Washington school.
Stell studied during the segregation era and saw first hand the unequal representation in our state growing up, she believed in taking action so much that she ran for office whilst still in high school against seasoned politician Thurman Adams Jr., Parker Selby lost but she said that “you win some, you lose some but you don’t give up”.
It did not matter though as she had already made history by being the first African American to run for a senate and state position in Sussex County. Little did she know that her impactful journey was just beginning.
